Order block guide
Order block trading, done properly
An order block is the last opposite candle before an impulsive move that breaks structure. It marks where large orders were placed, and price often returns there before continuing.
- Valid only with a break of structure
- Higher-timeframe confirmation
- Stop beyond the block
- Minimum 1.5R reward-to-risk
What makes an order block valid
It must cause a break of structure, leave an imbalance (often an FVG) and not be mitigated yet. Blocks that sit in discount for buys or premium for sells are stronger.
Entry and stop
Enter on the return to the block, stop beyond its extreme with a small buffer, targets at the next liquidity levels.
How FIMO X uses them
Order blocks are drawn automatically and discarded if they are too far from price, against the higher-timeframe trend or below 1.5R.
Frequently asked questions
What is a mitigated order block?
One that price has already returned to; it is usually weaker afterwards.
Order block vs supply and demand?
Similar idea, but order blocks require a structure break and are more precise.
Does FIMO X find order blocks automatically?
Yes, on XAUUSD, EUR/USD and BTC/USD.
